The “C&C Jumbo Gumbo Tamale” is the brainstorm of two friends from culturally different backgrounds whose passion for good ethnic food has resulted in an unexpected fusion of diverse, traditional cuisines – with extraordinary results.
From the guarded family recipe of Merced Bacon’s grandmother comes the rich, Creole flavors of New Orleans Louisiana Gumbo – with its incomparable blend of king crab, jumbo shrimp, fresh chicken breast and two kinds of delicately spiced sausage.
Cesar Duran’s contribution comes from his family’s culinary expertise in the fine art of crafting tamales going back generations to the family’s origins in Guadalajara. Corn masa is carefully prepared, filled with a generous portion of savory gumbo and expertly wrapped in a husk – then steamed to delicious perfection.
Smothered in rich, succulent rue, the resulting combination is a delectable collision of flavors that people from all cultures can celebrate and enjoy!
